“The Passover Surprise” is a terrific book for children eight to twelve. Written in 2015 by Dr. Janet Heller, it tells the story of a girl’s determination to be treated as her brother’s equal. Set against the background of a Passover celebration in the 1960’s, the nostalgic illustrations add to the book’s charm.
In 2016, Dr. Marcie Beigel wrote a book called “Love Your Classroom Again.” The book discusses issues facing teachers of children pre-K through second grade. However, parents will find many of her strategies useful at home.
“Animals Speak” is a terrific book for children three to eight. It contains nineteen stories about animals experiencing “human” problems and teaches kids how to work through their own issues with kindness and sensitivity.
